Lunar New Year – Vegetarian Meal

This year’s Lunar New Year falls on February 3.  It is also the Year of the Rabbit and I read that it is going to be a good year for everyone. 🙂

In my family, it is a tradition to eat all vegetarian dishes on new year’s day.  One of my favorite savory dishes is this tofu skin stir-fry with sliced celery and carrots.  The tofu is creamy and soft and the celery and carrots give every bite a nice crunch factor.

Happy Lunar New Year!

  1. Happy Lunar New Year to you and your family! Looks like a delicious dish…I would love to try the tofu skin!

  2. Thanks Faith! Same to you. 🙂

  3. Happy Lunar New Year! Some friends of mine and myself went to a Chinese New Year performance in the auditorium of our local museum last weekend. It was a performance of dances done by little girls in the traditions of the New Year. The dances were fun to watch and the little girls were darling. It was fun to see that side of the culture.

This dish looks delicious! I agree with Faith, the tofu skin looks delicious!

  4. Tofu skin, that sounds funny! I always thought you’d eat the whole piece! 😀 Your dish looks wonderful! Happy Chinese Year! (That’s it, no? I’m not used to that at all because there aren’t so many Chinese people in Germany, so Chinese New Year isn’t in awareness so much here. Great I’ve learned that now!)

    • Thanks Kath. Are there Chinese restaurants in your town? I’m sure there are still a small number of Chinese in Germany. They’re everywhere, seriously! Whenever I’ve travelled, there are at least one Asian restaurant (albeit not authentic) in town, even in Iceland! 🙂
