Tornado in NYC???

I am so sorry that I am putting up this depressing post today. My neighborhood was hit hard by the tornado last night. My windows all shattered, no electricity, no buses…it’s a major havoc. Everything in the fridge will probably go bad. While this is a very frustrating and costly (I am already on a tight budget) ordeal for my mom and I, I still have to feel blessed that nobody got hurt.  Natural disaster can happen anyway, but this event also taught me to cherish the people around us.

Take care everyone. Hope you will have a pleasant weekend.

UPDATE: Electricity is finally back after 58+ hours! What would be the first thing you do? I did what any practical person would do – cleaned out the fridge, and then, as any OCD person would commit…do laundry. 😛 It was just so nice to have fresh, clean-smelling clothes again.

So the photo is just an example of the destruction in my neighborhood and also, one of the three ‘candlelight’ dinner I had with my mom. You probably could not even make out what we ate.  But…is not dining in the dark the trend these days? 😛

  1. I am so sorry to hear about what happened! That seems quite odd, yes? I live in Kansas and am no stranger to the damage tornados can do. They are no fun!

    • Thanks for your kind words.

  2. yikes, sorry to hear you got hit so hard. i just got rained on. glad to hear everyone is ok.

    • Thanks Howard. Still no electricity…:(

  3. I’m so sorry to hear about this! I’m glad that you and your mom are both ok though.

    • Thanks Faith. The electricity is back on after 58 hours. Got to throw a lot of things out of the fridge. 😦

  4. Laundry? Was the first thing you did? Hahaha, I sometimes put off laundry for weeks at a time, I think I’d just use the power outage as an excuse to not do it for even longer :p

    • Actually, I cleaned out the fridge the very first thing. Threw out some ‘soggy stuff’ from the freezer. THEN I did laundry. I wore my jeans like 3 days in a roll. I think that justify for a wash. 🙂 And of course, I turned on my computer to use the Internet 😛
